So at the beginning of this month, Team Ouya announced that they are going to have a ship date of March 28th for those that contributed to the kickstarter. As many of you know, I contributed to the kickstarter for the Ouya, and I am really excited about getting my hands on the device. More important, I’m excited about designing games for it.

My biggest hope is that GameMaker’s ability to publish to the Android Marketplace will gel well with the Ouya. I would love to make games for my children that they can actually play on the console. I suspect there will be issues initially, especially when it comes to the use of the controller and the controller’s touch-pad. But my hope is that, in the long run, the Ouya will live up to its expectation of being an easy console to program for.
Whatever it is, I’m going to start finding out in a few weeks. I’m elated to be given the opportunity to participate in this process.
