When I heard that a game would have artwork from Todd McFarlane and a Storyline by Robert Salvatore, I was pretty excited. It seemed like the perfect blend of fantasy story lines and artwork. And the resulting product was pretty amazing.
Unfortunately, in order for the game to be profitable, it needed to sell over 2 million copies. So when it only sold 1.3 million, the company just didn’t have the revenue that it needed to survive. I think we’re going to see a lot more in the news about the downfall of this company in the coming months. Ultimately, it seems that they just got too big for their breeches before they had a product on the market.
UPDATE: There’s a good article about it here.
