This is an entry for the A to Z Challenge (see the sidebar for more information).  These are just some of my initial impressions on the Steam, GOG, and other online games throughout the month.  It is not as much of a review as it is a summary of my feelings on the game.

Trials HD is a side-scrolling motorcycle game that gives you timed challenges on a variety of tracks.  Most of the tracks involve explosions, breaking components, and the destruction of your character and/or bike at the end of the race.

It’s not often that I download a trial for a game and find myself still playing the trial a year later.  This was the case with Trials HD; about once per month (more frequently for my son) I would go on and play through the levels they provide with the game.  I would then consider whether to buy the game or not, and I would usually tell myself that I should wait for the sale.  After about a year, I realized that the game had provided enough enjoyment for me over the year to justify the additional $5/400 points.

Get out there and try this game; it’s amazing.  The controls are simple, the stages are delightfully frustrating, and the stunts are ridiculous.  Every once in a while you flip your way into a happy accident of a recovery, and it’s incredibly satisfying.
