This is an entry for the A to Z Challenge (see the sidebar for more information).  These are just some of my initial impressions on the Steam, GOG, and other online games throughout the month.  It is not as much of a review as it is a summary of my feelings on the game.

Today’s game is an adventure game that puts you into an alternate version of Earth.  In the 1100s, following an evil massacre in the Siege of Acres, magic is introduced to our world through a rip in the fabric of the universe.  Mankind has learned to adapt to the magic, and the year is now 1588.

My first impression of this game was that it would be a Diablo Ripoff.  I’ve played many Diablo knock-offs, and I don’t mind playing another if the story is interesting.  As it turns out, this game takes a different approach.

I need to make a confession: I have never played Fallout.  I’ve always heard about how great the game was, but I never got around to playing it.  I bring this up because the engine from this game seems to be the same game engine (called the SPECIAL engine) used in the Fallout series.

If you’ve played Fallout, then I’ll just call this a fantasy version of that game.  If you haven’t played, I’d say that it is a third person adventure with controls similar to Baldur’s Gate or Icewind Dale.  I’m definitely going to return to this game, probably during a business trip or vacation.
