I really miss playing Pride FC, and I’ve been watching a lot of MMA on YouTube lately because of it. I really like watching the crazy submissions that people do, like Ryo Chonan’s flying leg scissor into a heel hook or Nick Diaz’s sick gogoplata. Here’s a pretty good video showing some of the crazier submissions.
One of the things that I would like to see is more of the sound-based techniques from professional wrestling used in MMA. I noticed that the old Pancrase and Pride arenas used microphones under the ring to make slams sound that much harder. In fact, I think promotions like Pride and Dream have done a much better job than UFC of creating great production values during their shows. If there is anything that I would like to see from Zuffa, it’s introductions like this one.
