My wife told me about an interesting discussion on NPR’s Morning Edition about the benefits of games on the human brain. Here is the link to the audio file and the article:
The thing that jumped out at me was the generally positive nature of the piece. Yes, they still advocate limiting children’s time on games (something I and most gaming parents agree with), but they attacked the issue of the effects on your brain from several angles, all of this showed positive results.
This could be indicative of a healthy change in the culture. As gamers continue to grow within the overall population, the overall acceptance of the value of gaming will will grow as well. That NPR would broadcast such a positive assessment in their “In Your Health” section is heartening.
