I really like that my neighborhood does Halloween on the weekend before Halloween rather than on the actual day. This makes things a lot easier than trying to arrange for the kids to walk around on a school night.

One of the little games that I like to play each year is “Honest Candy.”  Basically, I place a bowl full of candy out for the kids and allow them to take as much as they want.  It’s interesting to see how people will tend to self regulate when you give them free-reign.  For a few years now, we’ve placed the bowl out there and watched, and we haven’t had a single kid dump the whole bowl into their bag.

Maybe I’ll come up with an achievement badge for the first kid that does.
