A to Z Challenge: These are just some of my initial impressions on the Steam, GOG, and other online games throughout the month.  It is not as much of a review as it is a summary of my feelings on the game.

Occasionally I’ll cheat from the Steam/GOG/OnLive list and go with a few free-to-play games.  Today’s game is one of them.

GIRP – which appears to be a mispelling of the word “grip” – is brought to you by the same people that brought you QWOP (hint: guess what Q’s entry is for this month).

In GIRP, your task is simple: climb to the top of a cliff. To achieve this task, you hold down keys on your keyboard to have your little rag-doll character grab corresponding rings attached to the side of the cliff.  As you use the shift key to swing your character back and forth, you work your way to the top of the cliff.  Occasionally, your movements are interrupted by an annoying seagull whose purpose seems to be to block the next rung up.

GIRP is a fun, albeit frustrating, game that tends to leave you constantly wondering if you can beat your previous time.  If you are looking for a short diversion, give this game a try.  Be warned, though, that a few short minutes can quickly become an hour.  Be mindful, as this game can keep you hanging (pun only mildly intended) around for a long time.
